Several times each semester, the Student Athlete Academic Support Services (SAASS) office contacts faculty members who work with student athletes by sending out academic progress report forms. These forms include questions about a student athlete’s attendance, completion of assignments, and current grade status.
Faculty members return the academic progress forms to Academic Counselors. Academic Counselors review the reports with coaches and student athletes. These progress reports allow Academic Counselors and student athletes the time to make adjustments and changes in study practices and behavior before the end of the semester. They also provide a springboard for discussion between faculty and student athlete. SAASS staff and coaches encourage all student athletes to regularly attend classes, complete assignments promptly, and make frequent contact with instructors in order to be successful in courses.
