Currently all SAASS Computing Services (SCS) computers run Microsoft Windows as their base operating system. Though an Apple Macintosh computer is available, use of it while running Mac OS X is limited to those students who cannot complete their classwork using Windows. As a result, SCS has partnered with Microsoft and the Virginia Tech College of Engineering under Microsoft's Campus Agreement Program so that it can offer a wide range of software including:

• Microsoft Windows XP Professional
• Microsoft Office 2003 Professional
• Microsoft OneNote 2003
• Microsoft Project 2003
• Microsoft Visio 2003

 

Along with the above mentioned Microsoft products, each lab computer has the following software installed:

• Adobe Acrobat 7.0
• Apple iTunes and QuickTime
• Divx Player Codec
• FrontMotion FMLogin
• Macromedia Flash Player
• Macromedia Shockwave Player
• Spybot Search and Destroy
• Sun Java Runtime Environment
• Symantec Antivirus Corporate Edition
• Winzip

 

Like any other computer lab, the SCS staff strive to provide students with the latest and greatest software. Currently we are testing the following software for wide-range deployment:
